世間的にはあまり評価されていない5thアルバム。ボビー・キンボールが脱退し、２代目ボーカリストは1000人のオーディションの中で、最後はその後Mr.Bigで活躍するエリック・マーティンとの一騎討ちの末Trillionで活躍したファギー・フレデリクセンに。

彼のハイトーンボーカルは素晴らしく、"Endless"や"Isolation"など実は名曲がめじろ押し。本当は★四つだが、皆さんにもっと聴いてもらいたいので★５つ！！

ボビー・キンボールと比較するとかなり若くてパワフルなボーカルを聴かせてくれる新ボーカリスト：ファーギー・フレデリクセン。この人、オリンピックの体操選手候補だったそうで、来日時には体育館で鉄棒の妙技を見せてくれたそうな。このアルバムは左程人気が出なかったようだが、TOTOのアルバムの中ではTURN BACKと肩を並べるくらいの名ハードロック・アルバムではないだろうか。IVでAORに走ってしまい多少詰まらなさを感じていたが、これで一気に若返って息を吹き返したような気がする。曲も粒揃いで演奏は非の打ち所なし。これがTOTOというバンドの醍醐味である。

　かなり個人的な意見で仰々しいタイトルを付けてしまったが、私の中では間違いなくTotoのなかでも最良のアルバム。
　このページにたどり着いた方ならもはや周知の事実であろうが、ここまで賛否が分かれるアルバムも珍しいというほど極端な評価を受けるアルバムである。
　それはオールドファンにとって余りに予想外な音が収録されていたからだろう。「Rosanna」「Africa」などのAOR色から一気に若返った「Isolation」。今聴いても新鮮な驚きがある。
　試聴してみて少しでも気になったら、このアルバムを是非買って、”優”か”不可”かの判断を各自でしていただきたい。安いし。
　私としては棺桶の中にまで持っていきたいと思っている良作である。
