　ロギンス＆メッシーナを解散したケニー・ロギンスの最初のソロアルバム。エスニックな指向を持っていたジム・メッシーナと分かれて、彼が組んだのはシティー派のボブ・ジェームス。77年の録音だが、洗練された音作りは今聞いても新鮮。
　ラストのYou Don't know meはエリック・ゲイルのギターとボブ・ジェームスのエレピが印象的。

名盤ハイアドベンチャーから遡って、このソロでニューアルバムを入手してみました。
内容的にはロギンス＆メッシーナを解散した後のケニー・ロギンスの1Stソロアルバムてことで、フォークな雰囲気に若干のロックンロールテイストとAOR/フリーソウルという時代背景的にありがちな音がうまくMIXされてますね。エスニックな指向を持っていたジム・メッシーナとコンビを解消して、彼がプロデューサーとして選んだのはFUSION界の大物キーボーディストのボブ・ジェームスでした。1977年の録音ですが、FUSION的な明るくクリアで洗練された音作りは今聞いてもOKですね。ケニーのボーカルも荒削りでパワフルな面が目立ちますね。サウンドの処理によるところもありますが、Footloose時代ほど声もキンキンしてないですね。(笑)

コロンビア・レーベルからソロとしてデビューを飾ったケニー・ロギンスの1st作品('77年作)。プロデュースには'70s当時のフュージョン・シーンで一躍名声を得たボブ・ジェームスとビリー・ジョエル等のプロデューサーとして活躍していたフィル・ラモーンが担当しています。
'80sのK.ロギンスの印象のが強い方には、この二人の下で作成されたファーストアルバムが非常にスムースなAORタッチの強い作品である点に驚かれるかも知れません。初期のK.ロギンス作品としては、私個人としては本作と2ndが非常に大好きな作品でもあります。
大ヒットという訳には行きませんでしたが、しっかりとしたバックの布陣と共に、K.ロギンスの(ロギンス＆メッシーナ時代とはガラリと色を変えた)ライティングが楽しめる作品でもあります。[7]はパティ・オースティンの作品であると共に彼女も共演しています。
その他、先のバックの布陣としては、リチャード・ティー(key)、ハービー・メイソン(ds)、ヒュー・マクラッケン(g)エリック・ゲイル(g)、スティーヴ・カーン(g)、リー・リトナー(g)、スティーヴ・ガッド(ds)、ロベン・フォード(g)ハイラム・ブロック(g)etc..と、正にファースト・クラスのスタジオ・ミュージシャンが大挙しています。
