　名曲「風に吹かれて」「くよくよするなよ」を含むセカンド・アルバム。
　当時のアメリカ大統領はケネディで、公民権運動やキューバ危機、ヴェトナム戦争の拡大などに、ヴィレッジのフォーク・シーンも巻き込まれていました。
　こうした中で「風に吹かれて」は、PPMやジョーン・バエズが歌い、名曲となっていきますが、このアルバムには、キューバ危機を歌った「はげしいい雨が降る」や「戦争の親玉」「第3次世界大戦を語るブルース」などが収録されています。当時のディランの戦争に対する姿勢が、色濃く出ているアルバムです。
　演奏は、アコースティック・ギターとハーモニカだけですが、バンド以上の迫力を感じさせます。
　アルバム・ジャケットの女性は、当時ディランの恋人だったスーズ・ロトロで、彼女はプロテスト・シンガーとしてのディランにとって影響力をもった人でした。社会派の活動家を感じさせる、ボブ・ディランのアルバムです。

1974年頃になるが電車の中でHow many ~と呟いたら、外国人が話しかけてきた。
噂に聞いてはいたが、「風に吹かれて」がそこまですごい唄だということを実感した。
いろいろな人が「風に吹かれて」をうたうがやっぱりフリーホイーリンが最高だろう。しかし、「yes'n」というのはなくてもいい気がするが…。日本人はこれをカバーしてはいけない。

わたしは、この時期のボブ・ディランの声は、最高のものだとは思いませんが、７０年代以降とはちょっと違う、若々しい声はまた違った魅力があるとおもいます。

歌詞は、それほど難解なものではありません。控えめな表現の中に強いメッセージを潜ませているプロテスト・ソングもあり、恋愛をうたった歌もあり、どちらもわたしは大好きです。

ギターの乾いた音がとても美しいです。
