　どこからともなく突然現れた、元気なAmerican Bandの1995年の作品。ひたすら明るく元気で荒っぽい、絵に描いたようなアメリカ！的魅力に溢れています。ProducerのMatthew Wilderの手によって上手にまとめられたバンドアレンジと、VocalのGwen Stefaniのフレッシュな魅力が、この作品に大きな力を与えています。バラッド曲「Don't Speak」の大ヒットで一気にブレークした彼らですが、この作品の後は、ぱっとした作品を発表できていません。いわゆる一発屋の一瞬の輝きかもしれませんが、だからといってこの作品の魅力には一点の陰りもありません。無名バンドが成り上がる直前の魅力が目一杯詰め込まれた、実に勢いに溢れた良い作品です。

ハードなロックが好きな人、パンクが好きな人、ロックならなんでも好きという人、超オススメの１枚です。
女性ヴォーカリストのグウェンのチャーミングでありつつ、パンチも歌が魅力でありつつ、ハードなギター・サウンドが圧巻。類似系バンドをあげるとするならば、GARBAGEなんだろうけど、勝るとも劣らないバンドです。

男バンドではリンキンパークが人気ありますが、あのくらいハードな音楽が好きな人でも十分に聞き応えがあります。
最近聴いた類似系格好良いバンドに「GUANO APES」「HOLE」という認知度の低いバンドもありますが、この２バンドも超オススメなので、機会があったら聴いてみて下さい。

英国は『マッドネス』などのスカバンドにあきらかに影響を受けているバンド。

スカをベースにしながらも『８０年代一発屋伝説のひとり』＝マシューワイルダーの『適度にキャッチー＆ポップなプロデュース』＝つまりマーケットでアピールするようなニューウエイブコンシャスなアルバムとなった。しかけたワイルダーにしてみればざあまあみろなリベンジとなったヒットアルバム。　スカ＋パンク＋メインストリームポップ＋ニューウエイブのブレンドバランスが絶妙。ボーカルは『パットベネター』系列でふつう＋バンドもごくごくふつう。
