　デビュー作は当時“あのボブ・ディランの息子のバンド！”という捉え方をされてしまい、色眼鏡で見られたせいか、はたまたその“イケメン”ぶりが、アイドルチックに見られたためか、散々なセールスに終わってしまった。それから5年、メンバーもほぼ一新して、起死回生の充実作を引っさげて、彼らはシーンに戻ってきた。

　奏でられているのは、奇をてらうことなど何も無い、誠実に音楽と向き合ったであろうことが容易に見て取れる、侘び寂びもわきまえた、素晴らしきフォークロック。静かな出だしから、徐々に盛り上がる、最高のオープニング（1）｢One Headlight｣から、最後の曲まで、どこか懐かしい、古き良き時代を彷彿とさせる楽曲達に、名手ラミ・ジャファ（key）を中心とした、シンプルにして過不足のない演奏、そして父をも思い起こさせる、決してうまくはないが、朴訥で味わい深いジェイコブのボーカルが絡めば、もう無敵のウォールフラワーズ・ワールド！。

　商業化も行き着き、ヒップホップが全盛の90年代に、こんなにも実直で誠実な音楽と出会えるなんて、と感動・興奮したことをまるで昨日のように思い出させる、奇跡のようなアルバム。ディランが切り開き、トム・ペティが受け継いだアメリカン・ロックの後継者は、ジェイコブ率いるウォールフラワーズこそ相応しい。ただ残念ながら、彼らはこの作品を超えられずに、今ももがいている。

最初のビッグ・ヒットのOne Headlightを含む２nd！ボブ・ディランの息子ジェイコブ・ディランがボーカルのこのバンド。親父譲りの雰囲気と声が最高です！（ルックスもめちゃくちゃカッコイイ！！）もちろん七光りなんかじゃないです！

地道な音楽活動を続けるJacob Dylan。昨年はソロ・アルバムも出し、日本でも評価が高い作品に仕上がっていた。私もかなり気に入っており、バンドサウンドとはまた一味違った、よりシンプルなJacob Dylanの魅力も知ることが出来る作品に仕上がっていた。
The Wallflowersの2作目「Bring Down The Horse」は、彼らの作品で一番のお気に入りである。1曲目の「One Headlight」に代表されるシンプルで、Dylanの味わい深いヴォーカルが非常によくマッチしており、耳障りがとても良いサウンドになっている。良質なフォーク・ロックといったところであろう。何度繰り返し聴いても飽きることのない音楽とは、こういうシンプルでしっかりした演奏力に裏打ちされたものをいうのであろう。
