ボズ・スキャッグスと並びＡＯＲを語る上で欠かせないのがボビー・コールドウェル。'78年に制作されたこのデビュー作は，夕暮れの海岸通をドライブしているかのようなメロウで爽快な「Special To Me」で幕を開ける。出色は何と言っても「風のシルエット（What You Won't Do For Love)」。クールでジャジーなサウンドと渋いボーカル。発表後４半世紀がたった今でも色褪せない,実にスタイリッシュなナンバーである。この他にも気だるくも心地よいスロー「My Flame」,煙草のパーラメントのＣＭに起用されたバラードの「Come To Me」など好曲が多く,充実した内容のアルバムだ。長い間,ＡＯＲは日本人好みの音楽で本国アメリカではさほど人気はない,と思っていた。ただ,'90年代後半になってそれは間違いだと気づいた。「風のシルエット」については,No Limitの主催者Master Pやルーニーズ,メッカドンからデビューした女性デュオのSa Deuce（サデュース）など実に多くHip-Hop系アーティストがサンプリングのネタとして取り上げたし,「My Flame」もポートレイトというＲ＆Ｂバンドがサンプリングしたからである。このことはジャンルや世代の壁を越えて彼の音楽が再評価されていることを物語っているのではないか。

ボビーコールドウェルの記念すべきファースト。今でも忘れない、深夜ラジオをふとつけてみたときに流れてきた風のシルエット。独特な声、切ないメロディ、これ以降ボビーコールドウェルに夢中になっていきました。
音楽だけでなくジャケットもかっこいい！海賊版が出回る現在の状況の中で、CDを買いたいと思わせてくれる一番の理由ではないでしょうか？

典型的な『ビッグインジャパン』なシンガー。もうだいぶ年令がいっていると思われる。アメリカではコンポーザーとして評価されている。日本の風土にジャストフィットなシンガーとも言える。ソフトでメローな音像ながら、この人はコンポーザーとしてのセンスがすばらしく、アレンジもこなすマルチプレーヤー。完全に才能が開花しているわけではないが、＜６＞が多くの音楽家にカバーされている。彼の代表曲。予算もあまりかけられなかったためか、音はややすかすか。スムーズジャズのボーカルバージョンな形式をいち早く組み立てた功績は大きい。
全体的にはメモラブルな曲は少ないのが難点。１０点中６点
