　'89年、1st発売より約1年半後、精力的なツアーの成果が結実した2nd。このアルバムから、バラード7がヒット（ビルボード・チャート33位）し、アルバムも38位（同チャート）まで上昇した、まさに出世作です。
　本作は、1stよりも若干メジャー感が増し、曲自体もバラエティ豊かになりました。ただ、悪く言えば散漫、曲も妙に“軽い”ものが増えた感じもあります。
　1~3のストレートなロック曲の流れは、なかなかにスリリングです。個人的に本作の目玉は6で、このバンドならでは！と思わせるメロディ＆ヘヴィさ＆構成力が実に素晴らしいです。同様の理由で58も佳曲。その他、前述の7も良いバラードです。

l.a.gunsの出世作。前作の少々ストレートすぎるロックから成長し、一曲一曲がそれぞれ顔をもっている。トレイシーガンズのギターも非常にソリッドでメロディアスだが音が弱いのが難点か。Malariaは独特のメロディでL.A.GUNSにしか表現できないかもしれない。Rip and Tearのノリとトレイシーのテクも聴き応えがあるし、Never Enoughのキャッチーなメロディ、Magdalaineのフラメンコメタルも面白い。ストレートな17 Crash、シンプルなギターが妙にカッコいいI Wanna Be Your Man、ミリオンセラーに導いた美しいバラードBallad of Jayneなど、Ｌ．Ａ．ＧＵＮＳの色々な面が見る事ができる。
ゴリゴリのメタル好きにはおすすめ出来ないが、ポップロック好きにはおすすめ。

彼らの２ｎｄアルバムです。
１、２、３と続く流れには今でも痺れますね。特に２、３は名曲かな。
６みたいなアホ臭い曲もありますが、それも彼らの持ち味の一つかと（笑）今作までは勢いがありました。

ロックンロールの毒々しさが良く出ていて、いいです。ハノイロックスみたく、ストレートなロックなとこがかなりいいです。（３）なんかのルーズなのりはいいですね。
