   89年のセカンド作品である。音楽的意見の相違から、パーカッションのマーティンが脱退したため、コリーンとアンディーのツインユニットとなってリリースした。

スウィング・アウト・シスター、特にこのアルバムは冬になると何となく引っ張り出して、聴きたくなる一枚です(89年作)。

ジミー･ウェッブがストリングスアレンジを担当したこの作品は、2ndにして、彼らが作りたかった音楽がほぼ実践できたアルバムだそうで、独特のクリスマス前の華やいだ街のオシャレな雰囲気にぴったりのムード・ミュージックです。風景や雰囲気に寄り添う音楽というのが、ここではポイントで、ここまで個性を主張しすぎず中庸に徹した作品というのは、あまりない気がします。それだけ景色にマッチした音楽だからこそ、今度は単独でその音楽を聴いたときに、華やいだ街の夜のネオンが目に浮かんでくるような効果を生んでいます。また彼らは、このサウンドを量産するのではなく、その後マイペースになっていって、何度も焼き直しみたいなことをやってこなかったことも、なかなか清いことだと思われます。

バート・バカラック、エンリオ・モリコーネ、偉大な映画音楽の巨匠達へのオマージュであり、且つ又見事に自分達のスタイルと融合させている。彼等のアルバムの中ではｓｈａｐｅｓ＆ｐａｔｔｅｒｎｓと並び、最も親しみ安くお薦めできるアルバムだ。ジミー・ウェッブのオーケストレーションは素晴らしい。出来れば全曲担当して欲しかった。シンセのストリングスも巧いが、今聴くと少し古く感じてしまう。

スィングアウトシスターの作品のなかでもこの一枚は全体として華麗なオーケストラレーションで彩られた名盤です。歌詞は失恋の歌なのですけれど聴いていると味わいがあっていつまでも色あせない一枚です。Waiting Gameは電子音とオーケストラの融合です。ファーストアルバムは派手でしたが僕は地味なこのセカンドアルバムが好きです。
