　このＣＤは、1985年にドイツで発売されたＣＤ“The Beatles - First”のＵＳ盤。新発売時のジャケットに使われていた写真には、ポリドールでの録音時にまだビートルズに加入していなかったリンゴ・スターが写っており、再発売時に現在のジャケットに変更され、“The Early Tapes Of The Beatles”と改名された、という曰く付きのＣＤである。1964年発売のＬＰ“The Beatles' First !”（後の“In The Beginning”）と混同されやすいが別物であり、このＣＤにはオリジナルとなったＬＰはない。日本盤ＣＤは「マイ・ボニー／ビートルズ1961」の名で発売されたが、こちらもＬＰ「ビートルズ1961」（“In The Beginning”の日本盤）と混同されやすく、注意を要する。
　ビートルズ参加の演奏は1234571011の8曲で、このうち12はビートルズのみの演奏である。ハンブルク時代のビートルズはポリドールとレコーディング契約を結んでおり、この時期の楽曲の権利は現在でもＥＭＩやアップルではなくポリドールが有している。

以前にビートルズ、ファーストという題名で出ていたモノの新装版。１９６１年６月にトニーシャリダンのバックバンドとしてのビートルズ初レコーディング。その時に録音された全８曲完全収録の低価格お徳用ＣＤ。１、（この歌のみジョンのボーカル）２、（ジョンとジョージによる共同作品のインスト曲）３、４、５、７、１０（リードギターはシャリダン）１１、の曲にビートルズ参加。６、８、９、１２、１３、１４、はビートルズは関係ありません。低価格そしてビートルズ参加の全８曲収録という事で、数多い同企画盤の中で私のおすすめです。
