Japanese only paper sleeve SHM pressing. The SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players. Warner. 2009.

signals以降の路線では一番完成された作品だと思います。
アルバム中の曲のバラエティが豊富でアップテンポな曲からしっとりした曲など聴き所がたくさんあります。
テンポの良い１，２，８、メロディアスな７、この時期のRUSHならではの３，５，６などの曲、特に中盤の５，６，７、の流れは良いです。

また前作よりシンセの音がひかえめで、ゲディーのベースが効いています。
全体のバランスが良くかなり聴き易いアルバムですからお勧めです。

「SIGNALS」以降の、シンセとシーケンサーを大胆的に取り入れた時期の、もっとも煌びやかだったラッシュの最後のアルバムであり、まさに80年代の総決算的なアルバムと言える。（ただし'89年の「PRESTO」は全く別路線）

メロディの良さは、ラッシュの全アルバム中１，２を争い、どの曲もコンパクトで美しく、判りやすいカタルシスがある。

特に、いわゆるプログレ・ハード的なアンサンブルを極限まで洗練したような「Force Ten」と、宗教歌のようなドラマ性がある「Mission」、動きまくるベースラインと独特のコード進行が余りに独創的な「Turn the Page」は、ラッシュの長い歴史の中でも代表曲と言えるだろう。

これほどシンプルで判りやすいメロディなのに、通俗的な下品さが無いのは、ゲディ・リー(Ba,Vo)の淡々とした歌いっぷりゆえか。
それとも、THE POLICEに影響を受けたと言われる、理知的でクールなギタースタイルゆえか。

それにしても個性的なバンドである。ごく初期にLED ZEPPELINの影響が感じられる他は、作曲面において常に独創的であり、誰にも似ていない音楽を、たった３人で30年にもわたって作り続けるのだから、「現代の奇跡」と言っても過言ではないだろう。

他の「プログレ・ハード」と呼ばれるバンドの多くは、インスト部分の凝ったアレンジを取り除けば、歌メロは「単なる古典的ポップス」だったりする事が多いが、ラッシュは全く違う。何しろポップスの約束事にほとんど囚われておらず、根元的な意味で「ロック的である」としか言いようがない。

「ウッドストック」に聴かれるような、「ロックがまだ約束事を持たなかった時代」の息吹を未だに感じさせる、まさに孤高のアーティストである。

5.0 out of 5 stars ラッシュの歴史上における一つの到達点, 2005/8/8
前作"Power Windows"の延長線上にあり、かつその形態の完成形といえる素晴らしい作品。前作で若干みられたアレンジの凝りすぎ、詰め込みすぎなどのぜい肉がなくなり、より曲の洗練度が増したアルバムになっている。ニールの歌詞も詩的により洗練されてきた。音質はとても良く、８０年代らしいきらびやかでリッチな音作り。このアルバムは確かにポップな感じではありますが、そのために聴かないというのは音楽的に損をしていると思います。偏見を抱かず是非聴いてみて下さい。形式は異なれど、ラッシュはやはりラッシュですから。

個人的には1Force Ten 2Time Stand Still 3Open Secrets 7Mission 9Tai Shan　が特に好きです。
