4.0 out of 5 stars エッジが効いたKISSの復活, 2003/8/17
ポール、ジーンのこだわりから、アートワークを変更（リミックスもしたらしい）したこの作品ですが、
リマスターによってもとのアートワークにもどっています。
写真には、ポール、ジーン、エリック、エースが写っていますが、
ご存知のようにエースはこのアルバム製作に一切関与していません。
（I Love It Loudのプロモには出演してますが）

複数のギタリストが参加しているようですが、メインはビンセント・カザノ
（＝ビニー・ビンセント。当時はまだパートタイマー）が弾いています。
このアルバム以前のKISSはかなり柔らかい曲質の展開をしていましたが、
このアルバムから再びエッジの効いた曲質に復活しています。

個人的なお勧めは、1.Creatures Of The Night（ALIVE3のオープニング）、5.Danger、6.I Love It Loud（ノーメークキッスのライブでは
定番でしたね。プロモも結構好きだった。）あたりでしょうか。

面白いのは作曲陣。4.Rock And Roll Hell、9.War Machineにクレジット
されているBryan Adamsは、みなさんご存知のあの方です。
KISSとのつながりというのは結構意外で面白い。

どういう経緯でジャケットが変更になったのかはしらないけれど、やはりこのオリジナルジャケットの方が断然いい。当時、リードはエースが弾いてるものと思っていたのに・・・がっくり。で、内容はパワフル、ワイルドな演奏。キッス復活っていう感じがして嬉しかったのを思い出す。オリジナルメンバー以外のアルバムでは一押し！

LAメタルの勃興に刺激されたのか、かなりヘヴィでソリッドな音になっています。ただしメロディが非常に充実しているのでうるさいとは感じません。とても耳当たりの良いヘヴィさなのです。ジャケに関しては賛否両論あるようですが、私はメイクなしのほうが好きです。
