速くて狂暴。ギターもひたすらかきむしりスタイルではあるが、メロディアスなものを感じとっているのは私だけでしょうか?でもただ美しいメロディーというわけでもないんだなぁ。ホラー映画にでもでてきそうな感じの、美しくも恐怖を煽るようなメロディーみたいな印象を持ちましたが、皆さんはどう感じるでしょうか?ファストブラックが好きな方なら必携の好アルバムなのでぜひ一度耳にしてみて下さい。

　デビュー・ミニに続くファースト・フル。Dark Funeralはスウェディッシュ・ファスト・ブラック・メタルバンドで、MARDUKの初期に非常に近いスタイルであるかと思います。彼らの特徴は、速くて激しく、時にメロディックな部分も見受けられるが、方向性を見失っていないとこかと。また、凶暴な中に緩急をつけることで、より邪悪な作品になっているかと思います。
　ギターはまさにファスト・ブラックにふさわしい攻撃的であり凶暴なリフが続き、サウンドもディストーション全開とも言える感じです。Voも、見事にブラックにはまるデス声といった感じで、ブラックの名盤に成りうるのかな？とも言えます。MARDUKが好きな人には、買って損はしない作品だし、どちらかというと攻撃的なブラックが好きという人にもお勧めします。

９３年に結成されたスウェーデンを代表するsatanic/Black　Metal　Band"DARK　FUNERAL"の１st　MINIアルバムに続く２ndフルレンス・アルバム。
バンドの誕生は９３年にLord　Ahriman（G)と元NECROPHOBICのDavid Parland（Blackmoon）（G）によって結成され、あとにThemgoroth（Vo）とセッション・メンバーとして元ILLSKAのDraugen（Dr）が加わり、４人編成としてスタート。同年にセルフタイトルのミニ・アルバムを"Unisound　Studio"でDan　Swanoのプロデュースによって制作。リリースと同時にバンドはノルウェーのオスロにある"Luse Lottes Pub"にて初のギグを行った。その直後にDraugen（Dr）が脱け、代わりにEquimanthorn（Dr）が加入する。 そしてバンドはスウェーデンのインディーズ・レーベル"No　Fashion　Records"と契約。翌９５年に初のフルレンス・アルバム「The　Secrets　of　The　Black　Arts」（本作）を"Abyss Studio"でPeter Tagtgrenの手によって制作。同時にビデオ・クリップも作られ、９６年にリリースされた。そして、バンドはレコーディングに参加していた、元OBSCURITYのEmperor Magus Caligula（Vo、bass） をパーマネント・メンバーとして迎え入れる。
