80s初中期にあって、ソロとして大成功を収めるL.リッチのその中でも大ヒット作。
もう、"全曲シングルカットしちゃえ!"って勢いでしたね。
時まさにVideoクリップ全盛期。そんな後押しもあってか、未だに"Hello"を聴くと、あの悲しいビデオクリップが脳裏にフラッシュバックします (^^;
その他、"All Night Long"、"Penny Lover"も必聴ですよ。

アルバムとして非常に優れているので、ベスト版などよりもはるかに聴きがいがある。
全米Ｎo.1ヒットとなった「All Night Long」「Hello」も名曲だが、個人的には「Running With The Night」が好きだった。
非常にテンポがよい曲で、聴いていると活力がみなぎってくるようだった。
この頃の洋楽は素晴らしい物が多く、心の支えとになる名曲ばかりである。

この頃、ノリにノってたLIONELの　彼を代表する一枚。　私が「ベスト・ヒット」を見始めた頃に　ヒットしていたのが【8】。　その悲しげで美しいバラードをSINGLEで購入し、　聞き入ってました。　名曲ですね・・今聴いても胸が締めつけられる思いがします。　当時の記憶が鮮明に甦るほど　思い入れのある曲です。　”RADIO＆RECORDS”のチャートでは2位止まりでしたが　他では1位になったんじゃないかな。　1位になったと言えば【4】が　”RADIO・・”のチャートではトップに輝きました。　カントリー・フレーヴァー溢れる　スロウ・ナンバー。　当時、この地味な曲が1位になるのが　理解出来なかった私は　「きっと繰り上がりだろう・・」とか思ってましたが、　この時期の彼には　それほどの勢いがあったのだと思います。　実際、今聴くと良い曲だと思えますね。　大人になった。（笑）　SINGLEになった【3】は好きでしたね。　ムード満点のアレンジが心地よい　センス良い仕上がりのナンバー。　大半をスロウな曲で構成されてるALBUMなので　【1】、【2】、【7】のテンポ良い曲が際立ってくるのは　必然で、【2】の　アフリカンな雰囲気を持つ　軽快な日本盤のTITLE曲（原題は【1】）と　スリリングでカッコいいナンバー【7】は　ヒットしました。　LIONELと言えば”バラード”とゆうイメージがあるけど　このテのDANCEナンバーもいいですね。　勿論【5】のAORないい雰囲気のミディアム・ナンバーや　シットリとした優しげなメロディアス・バラードの【6】など、　いい感じのスロウ・ナンバーも用意してくれてます。　【6】を聴いていて　「なんかD・FOSTERっぽいな〜」と思ったら　やはり彼の手掛けた作品だった。　彼のテイスト溢れる好ナンバーに仕上がってる。　オープニングのALBUM　TITLEナンバーはノリノリのビート・トラックだが、　私としては　もっとCOMMODORES時代にやっていた様な　バリバリのFUNKも入れて欲しかったなァ〜・・。まァ全体を通して聴けば　このALBUMカラーには合わなそうだけどね・・。　センス良くまとまった作品だから　大ヒットしたんだろう。　BLACK MUSICの枠をこえて　こんなに素敵なALBUMを作ったLIONELは　その才能をこの後も披露するのだが　この作品の輝きには追いつけない。　まさに80年代を代表する　マスター・ピースだ。　名曲【8】をLIONELは収録するかどうか迷ってたらしい。　奥さんに「いいじゃん！」と薦められて収録を決めたそうだ。　奥さんに感謝です！　でなければこの名曲に逢えなかったから・・・。
