ﾎﾞﾋﾞｰﾀﾞｰﾘﾝの「ﾏｯｸ･ｻﾞ・ﾅｲﾌ」を捩ったﾀｲﾄﾙに思わず「ﾆﾔﾘ」の本作。LP時代より大写しの顔ｼﾞｬｹを見る度にNickさんの鼻毛を抜きたい衝動に駆られてどうしようも無い。Rockpile名義のｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ発表〜厳しかったUSﾂｱｰの末呆気なく解散。Soloに戻り、彼にとっては3枚目の作品となった。
Nickさん曰く「余り手持ちの曲が無い時期に無理やり作ったｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ」と素っ気無い発言をしているが、いえいえ「元祖ﾊﾟﾜｰﾎﾟｯﾌﾟの名盤」に仕上がっています。このｱﾙﾊﾞﾑより演奏者の名前がｸﾚｼﾞｯﾄされる様に成りましたが、本作の鍵を握っているのはｶｰﾘｰﾝ･ｶｰﾀｰさんです。

かのｶｰﾀｰ･ﾌｧﾐﾘーの姓を継ぎ、ｼﾞｮﾆｰ・ｷｬｯｼｭの義理の娘となるｶｰﾘｰﾝさんのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑを'78年にﾌﾟﾛﾃﾞｭｰｽした縁で結婚。本作にも曲作り、ｺｰﾗｽで参加しています。ｼﾞｮﾆｰ･ｷｬｯｼｭさんとの出会いが後のｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ"Imposible Bird"で花開きます。

まずは重低音がﾄﾞｶﾄﾞｶ響く#1よりｽﾀｰﾄ。RocKpile時代はﾓｰﾀｳﾝ調ｱﾚﾝｼﾞで有った#2は今回のﾚｹﾞｴ仕込みで、柔らか味の有る暖かな曲へと変身。名曲はどんなｱﾚﾝｼﾞをしても名曲だと言う事を痛感させられます。#3/CCR-Green Riverのﾘﾌを借用したこの曲でｶｰﾘｰﾝさんと仲良くﾃﾞｭｴｯﾄを聞かせます。#5/8はｶｰﾘｰﾝさんとの共作でﾊﾟﾜｰﾎﾟｯﾌﾟの名曲だ。

そして何と言っても「空は晴れているのに　此処だけは雨降り」と歌われる永遠の名曲#10 その眼差しの先にはDaveが見えているのでしょうか？ｺｰﾗｽの重ね方といい、ﾀﾝﾊﾞﾘﾝ、ﾋﾟｱﾉの入り方と全てが完璧な仕上がり。聴く度に何時も切なくなります。

これが廃盤というのが残念でならない。
名盤中の名盤ですよ。
「ポップ」というと何か甘ったるいイメージがして好きじゃあないのだが、これはバンドの演奏も最高で、ドリーミーなロックという感じでしょうか。

どこかで見つけたら、迷わず購入することをおすすめします。
それとメーカーの方、再発お願いします。
