レーベル名をそのままタイトルにしたB.ハーパー(ts)の'75年作品。
そのタイトル名も然ることながら、各楽曲のタイトルも誠にナイス。そして肝心の音ときたらもう。。。私ごときジャズ素人が下手に形容詞を並べるよりも、是非是非聴いて頂きたいです。
モードを中心としながら、時にはフリーキーなトーンも交え解き放たれる音は単純明快に"カッコいいと素直に言わずにはいられない"、そんな気持ちをいとも簡単に引き出してくれることでしょう。
全３曲、いずれも彼自身の手によるオリジナルですが、一体、どこからこのセンスのよさが出てくるのでしょうか。テーマもソロもビシバシとツボに決まります(^^;
本当の気持ちよさやカッコよさを味わいたいなら、是非！
＃とは言え、作品自体はなぜか入手し難いようですね。
＃悲しいかな、これが世間での作品評価でない事を祈ります。

ビリー・ハーパーの全アルバムを持っているわけではありませんが、これは、彼の代表作に間違いないでしょう。'70〜'80年代にジャズ喫茶で頻繁にかかっていた盤で、レコードは一時廃盤の時期があり、必死に探しました（後に同レーベルより再発）。真っ黒なフルトーンのテナーには、いつ聴いても胸がじーんと熱くなってきます。ウディ・ショウや、チャールズ・トリバーに通じる、当時のスピリチュアルでストレート・アヘッドなジャズで、フリー・ジャズではありません。最近こういうジャズが少なくなりました。イタリアのBlack Saintレーベルの第1弾で、この後、兄弟レーベルのSoul Noteの第1弾もビリー・ハーパーでしたが、どういう訳か、両レーベルとも1枚きりでした。彼のプレイは、後年、新宿のピット・インでも聴きましたが、体調のせいか、やはり、若き日のこのアルバムには数段かないませんでした。現在、廃盤のようですが、いつでも入手できるようにして欲しい大名盤だと思います。
