アーテンションのヴォーカリストのソロアルバム。やっぱ、この人は１０年にひとり出るかどうかの人材である。悪いわけがない。アーテンションもすごいが、これもかなりすごい、なんかカンサスのヴォーカル＝STEVE WALSHに似てますね＝かっこいいということ。バック陣はジョージベラス＝まじで天才ギタリスト＝ギター／マットギロリー＝鍵盤／バリースパークス＝ベース／マイクテラーナ＝ドラムという鉄壁の布陣。ガッツあふれるロックをこれでもかと聴かせる。いまだジョンウエストの声を聴いたことがない人にぜひともおすすめする。まじでこんなヴォーカルはめったにいないのだから。

このアルバムはヴィタリ・クープリ率いるARETNSIONのシンガー初のソロ作品。
・・・のはずだが、ARTENSIONの作品と言われても違和感がないくらい、
イングヴェイを彷彿させるテクニカルなキーボードやギターといい、
時にプログレ･メタル的なアプローチといい・・・音の作りがソックリである。
これは作曲者＝ジョージ･ベラス、ロニー・パーク、マット・ギロリー・・・
が意識したためであろうか？
そういう意味では、目新しさがないアルバムとも言えるが、
ARTENSIONやジョンのファンなら全く違和感なく聴ける、期待通りのアルバムであるとも言える。
このアルバムでは特にジョージ･ベラスの作曲による、
4)ONE WAY、6)THE CASTLE IS HAUNTED、7)VEIL OF THE BLINDが秀逸。
速弾きテクニックはもちろん、ジョンの力強くも哀愁漂う歌メロも堪能できる。
マット・ギロリー作の1)EASTERN HORIZON、
ロニー・パーク作の2)LADY ICEは(key)をヴィタリ・クープリが弾いているのかと思うほど、
ARTENSIONの曲に類似している。
ソロ・アルバムだけに彼の違う魅力が引き出されたとは言い難いものの、
先入観を捨て去れば素直に良いアルバムだと思う。
