ビル・エヴァンスによるソロピアノ演奏集である。僕がエヴァンスに求めるものは、彼にしか表現できない美しいリリシズムとそこから派生してくる予定調和に堕することのない力強いスゥイング感覚だ。この二つは本来相反するものだが、本作では両者がうまく共存していると思う。美しいだけでは良いジャズではない。そこにどうしてもジャズのリアリズムが欲しい。そんな無い物ねだりの高い要求を満たしてくれる嬉しい一枚だ。
”アローン”に続いてのエヴァンスのソロピアノ集。多重録音もされていない。くどさもなく大変聴きやすい。エヴァンス・ミュージックのエッセンスが見事にここに集約されている。
僕的には、ポートレイト・イン・ジャズと並ぶエヴァンス愛聴盤だ。

ビル・エバンスといえば、トリオ演奏等、共演者とのインタープレイについて語られることが多いようですが、僕は彼のピアノプレイそのものを聴きたいが故に、ソロ・パフォーマンスの方に惹かれます。
非常に複雑かつ豊饒なハーモニーは、色彩豊かなオーロラの煌めきにも似ているように思えます。
特に「Peaple」は、聴き応え十分。その複雑な響きの変化を追うのは、スリル感さえあります。
尤も、その密度の濃さ故、じっくり聴き込むのは結構しんどいのも彼の演奏の特徴ですが。

自分の趣味で家を設計し、好きな家具や電化製品をそろえたらやりたいことというのがいくつかある。とりあえず夢ですね。
ですぐには夢にたどりつけないので、少しづつ近づけて行きたいなと。

渋い珈琲専門店のような雰囲気の中で流れるジャズピアノが部屋中を満たす。そんな中で読書がしたい。というのがその一つ。
ところがこの渋い雰囲気に合う静かなジャズピアノというのが良くわからないｗ

友達の紹介とかあさりながら見つけた曲がこれ。
（他に渋い珈琲店に会うジャズピアノがあったら誰か教えてください）
