　世の中にこんな音楽が存在するとは！との驚きさえ覚える、McCoy Tyner 76年は前代未聞のストリングス・エネルギー炸裂アルバム。M.F.S.B. や Sal Soul Orchestra、Love Unlimited Orchestra 等のPhilly Soul、New Soul 系ストリングスも、大きなエールを送ってくれるに違いない。
　あまりの手数に「まるで千手観音が叩いているかのような 」と比喩されるBilly Cobham の高速ドラムが凄い。鍵盤の上を疾走するMcCoy のピアノは、音の分厚さが感動的だ。飛翔する Hubert Laws のフルートも高揚感をあおる。
　驚くべきは、躍動するマッスを音楽に送り込むストリングスの生命力！　下支えする Ron Carter のベースに、ゴージャスなハープまでが加わり、音の洪水が飛沫を散らしながら襲いかかって来るようだ。本当にこれ一回限りの、McCoy による幾多の傑作アルバムのうちの１つ。

・・・といっても夜中に大音量はやめよう。ヘッドホンで聴いてもいいが、できるだけ大出力のオーディオセットで「どっかーん」とお聴きになることを強く推奨いたします。

スピーカの前でひっくりかえること請け合いの、パワフルなアルバム。そんじょそこらのハードロック/ヘビメタでは到底太刀打ちできない、圧倒的な音圧です。つっこみまくりながらドライブするコブハムの「つぶつぶ」ドラム、ひっかかるような、肌にざらつきさえ感じさせるマッコイの超後ノリピアノ。録音時、ストリングスの人たちは目が点になったのではないかと推察。

すごいとしか言いようのないCD．ジャズを超えてロックのように聞こえるときもあり，交響曲のように聞こえるときもあるエネルギーいっぱいのカルテットアルバム．単にフュージョンとひと括りにしたくない音の競演は必聴．MacCoy Tynerのピアノもすごいが，もしかしたらそれ以上にドラムが強烈な印象．
