一曲目の"I See Your Face Before Me"は昔の"Transition"に入っていた"Dear Lord"と同じ曲じゃないですか。まあジャズの世界では良くあることなんでしょうねこういうのは。コルトレーンのバラード集と言えば、例のインパルスからの"Ballads"が有名ですが、あれは気の抜けたソーダーのようなものと仰る人々もいます。どこか淡々としていて感情があまりこもっていないようにも感じられる。さあこちらはどうでしょう。誠実でクセのないビッグなトーンのテナーが堂々とバラーズをプレイする。感情過多ではないが、知性と感性のバランスが上手く取れているように感じられます。テナーの鳴りも悪くない。吹くところは吹き、抜くところ上手く抜く。ペースの掴み方を理解したようです。ガーランド（ピアノ）、テイラー（ドラムス）、チェンバース（ベース）のバックのサウンドも文句なし。地味なアルバムだが、リッラクスした内容で、余裕と自信に満ちたワンホーンアルバムだ。

~初期のプレスティッジ作品の中でも、なんとなく地味な存在のアルバムだが、内容は「ソウルトレーン」や「スターダスト」「ラッシュライフ」などと肩を並べるほど内容の充実した作品である。おなじみのリズムセクションを従え、コルトレーンのリリシズムが光る。ただ、どうしても1枚通して聴くと若干飽きてきてしまう。同じようなアプローチ、スタイルの作品が~~並べられているためだと思うが、これが少し残念・・・。しかし、コルトレーンの音楽を聴きたい人にとっては、そんな事全く気にならないはず。ジャッキー・マクリーンの曲を演奏しているところなんか、そそられます。~
