Fans of the Smashing Pumpkins who revel in the band's angst-ridden alt rock may well recoil in horror at this slice of pure, sweet melodicism from the band's lead guitarist, but Iha's solo debut is worthy enough to stand on its own merits. Musically, Iha's ability to effortlessly reel off one catchy acoustic pop number after another is reminiscent of Freedy Johnston. Lyrically, he's not nearly as adventurous or intriguing as Johnston. 購入してから7年ぐらい経っている気がしますが、時々無性に聴きたくなります。
私がたくさん所持しているCDの中で、そんな作品は数少ないです。
どんどん新しいものを購入していきますからね。
でもこれはずっと聴いていくでしょう。
美しく優しい音楽。
疲れた時、ハッピーになりたい時に、オススメです。

これは当時衝撃でした。スマパンでのイメージが
強いだけに、こんなメローでハートフルな名盤
が出来るとは。。。

１曲目から最高にポップで、あっという間に
全曲聴けちゃう感じに仕上がってます。

Iha君の愛の世界を堪能しましょう！

「僕の声とアコースティック・ギターだけで、自分の思い描いた曲がどれだけ形になるかやってみた」
とIha君。彼が言った通りの世界がこのアルバムには存在し、
全作がアコースティックとメロディーを重視したメロディアスな楽曲で構成されており、
美しく丁寧に奏でるギターと、優しくソフトに歌い上げるＩｈａ独特のボーカルが心地よいアルバム。
共同プロデュースにジム・スコットを向かえ、ゲスト参加には元スマパンのダーシー、
アダム・シュレシンガー(FOW/Ivyと、共同主催のScratchie Recirds)を始め、
多くの人達が参加していて、彼の人柄が伺える。
冒頭から柔らかく温かいアコースティックサウンドで幕を開ける。
小刻みなリズム体とIf I hold you now と繰り返すフレーズがとても心地良い
ギター・イントロと最初のThe sound of love is oceans far awayと言うフレーズから
膨らんで行ったと言う2曲目は素晴らしい名曲。
曲の盛り上げ方やコードの使い方が絶妙で、イントロのギターリフはジム・オルーク似で好み。
コーラスでヴェルーカ・ソルトのニーナが参加しているBeautyは
イハとニーナの声が本当に気持良く絡み合い、儚くそれでいて力強い曲に仕上っている。
彼の目指したエレクトリックとアコースティックの融合が1番発揮できたと言うSee The Sun。
低音域で響くIhaの声質と、フォーキーなギターサウンドと静かな盛り上がりが美しい曲。
ボーカルを前面に押し出し、バックで響く変則チューナーが心地よいカントリー調のCountry Girl。
Jealousyは軽い横ノリのポップナンバー。
前面にアコーステティック・ギター、バックで響くストリングスが美しく、
ニール・ヤング風のハーモニーも絶品のロマンチシズムな愛の歌、Lover,Lover。
Slver Stringは断然ストレートなバラードナンバーでストリングスとピアノの心地よい響きと
美しいメロディーに若干カントリーテイストが加わったバラードに仕上っている。
独特の浮遊感のあるWinterは後半の盛り上がり方が素晴らしい。
One And Twoは耳元でポソポソと囁くような歌い回しと、ギターのリフがしっくりとくる1曲。
サビのメロがSound Of　Loveと微妙にかぶってる気がするが、最後の盛り上がり方が好み。
NO One's Gonna Hurt YouはIhaの音楽的要素、彼の愛に対する姿勢、すべてが凝縮された曲。
全体的に静かな曲調だが、Iha独特の静かな盛り上がり方やメロディー、
ボーカルを重視し、盛り上がり時にアコースティック・ギターを前面にチェンジする趣向。
ストリングスの心地よい響きと、空間を作るコーラス、ペダル・スティール、ピアノも絶品。
Ihaの書く歌詞はどれもストレートで読んで赤面してしまいそうな位の愛の唄。
とてもロマンチシズムで、素直で、きっと誰もが思っている事を当たり前に表現出来ている。
このアルバムはIhaを通して自分達の愛も一緒に繰り広げられている。そんな1枚。
必殺の1曲！と言うのではなく、全体的に良質な曲が散りばめられており、
これはアルバム単位で聴くのがお薦め。彼の世界観はこの1枚で充分伝わる。
