ＳＥＸ　ＰＩＳＴＯＬＳの時のジョン・ライドンと同じ人が歌ってるのか・・？まずはそう思った。歌い方も押さえ気味で，パンクのような攻撃性はあるものの、どこかグロテスクである。しかし、これが、ジョン・ライドン自身から見た社会であり、それはまさに「サイコパス」なものであろう。

曲調としては、テクノをとりいれつつ、オドロオドロした世界を上手く表現している。あらたなジョン・ライドンを知るためには、欠かせない一枚になるはずだ。

セックスピストルズ〜ＰＩＬとまさにパンク・ポストパンク期を渡り歩いていてきた革命児ライドンの初ソロ作にして、これ以後新作は全く出ず、近年テレビのバラエティー番組での奮闘ぶりがライドンなぞ聞いたこともないティーンに大受けで人気再燃と相変わらず脈絡のない活動ぶりで己のパブリックイメージを破壊し続ける男。そんな彼が自宅スタジオで一人で製作したパーソナルな作風の今作。ペイントソフト覚えたての中学生がやったようなアルバムのアートディレクションといい、スカスカの打ち込みに呑気な調子で歌い上げるライドンのボーカルといい、これがピストルズ、ＰＩＬでロック史上に残るアルバムを連発した男とは思いもできない、期待はずれもいいとこの出来。ライドンもそれを自覚したのか、以後音楽活動とは遠ざかってしまった。当初はレフトフィールドと組んで今作を製作するはずだったが、途中で頓挫。レフトフィールドが関わっていればもう少しいいものが出来たはずで、実に残念。

狂騒と顰蹙のピストルズ再結成集金ツアーの翌年に発表されたジョン・ライドン初の個人名義アルバム。
作詞作曲はもちろんのこと、かなりの演奏やアートワークまで自身で手がけた本当の意味でのソロアルバムである。そういう事情からもリズムトラックは打ち込みが多く、ピストルズやＰＩＬの全盛期にみられたバンドグルーヴ（？）は期待できない。
やはり彼は、バンド内での軋轢も含めた対社会、対他者などとの摩擦や軋みをある種のグルーヴとして、これまでいい作品に定着させてきた人だと思う。
そういう刺激を与えられる人間とのコラボが実現すれば、またいい作品をつくってくれそうな気がするのだが、、、もう１０年かぁ、、。
