5.0 out of 5 stars ストーンズはこのアルバムを最後に進化を止めた, 2004/1/27
と言っても悪い意味ではなく、「山羊の頭」からこのアルバムまでは最新の流行を取り入れたりしてアルバム毎にスタイルを変えていたのが「ベガーズ~メインストリート」の頃のロックンロールの王道に戻ったという事。結構好きなアルバムですがファンクラブではリリース当時「あんたはカバ」とか言ってかなり評判悪かったので気分が悪かったです（笑）

あんまりいい評判を聞いてなかったので、手を出すまで随分時間がかかったのだが、初めて聴いた時驚いた。
なんだこれ、めちゃくちゃかっこいい！
ストーンズのアルバムは、時間をかけてジワジワと脳みそが蝕まれていくのが多いのだけど、このアルバムはアタマからガツン！です。

８０年代特有の、薄っぺらな音とは全く別の電気っぽさ。
ストーンズのかっこいいところは、時代の音を利用はするけど、決して寄りかからないところ。
「TIE YOU UP」「FEEL ON BABY」「TOO MUCH BLOOD」「PRETTY BEAT UP」の、まとわりつくような、ヌメッとしたかっこよさ。
チャーリーのドラムにエフェクトがだいぶかけられてハードになってるけど、ビルのベースもかっこいいなあ、と思ってたら、ロビー・シェイクスピアという人が大活躍。このアルバムのかっこよさの正体。
十二分に黒くて妖しいストーンズ節爆発です。

ただそれに比べて、後半の得意のロックンロール系の曲が、いつものストーンズだけど薄っぺらく感じる。

　そりゃーブッとびました。初めてこれを聴いた時は。脳をエイリアンに乗っ取られたかのごとき衝撃的ネオ・ストーンズ・サウンド(?)。どうしたもんかとしばらく悩むも、まず「トゥー・マッチ・ブラッド」のズ太いダンスビートに取りつかれ、クラゲのような「フィール・オン・ベイビー」に身をゆだね、気がつけば問題の「アンダーカバー…」までも惚れ込んでしまっていた。今聴くと「悪魔を憐れむ歌」や「スタート・ミー・アップ」などと並べてみてもなんの違和感もないストーンズ・ワールド。これがストーンズの魔力っちゅうかオーラっちゅうか、やっぱ偉大やねぇ~。
　全曲を平均すると楽曲としてはストーンズの中ではイマイチなんやけども、ジャケットデザインも含めて全体を支配しているジャックナイフのような鋭利感が、爽快でさえある。
