「Exile」の後という事で何かと受けの悪い本作。賛否両論の"ANGIE"（もちろん好き）含め全曲粒ぞろいである。全編を貫くダークな雰囲気がたまらなく良い。はっきり言いましょう。"WINTER"が素晴らしすぎます。個人的にミック・テイラー時代の最高傑作だと思います。なおビル・ワイマンを敬愛する私の判断では、"Mr.D"と"Comin down again"がテイラー、"Silver train"がキースのベースだと思います。

これはいいアルバムよ。サウンドがタイトで、キースとテイラーの役割がはっきりしている。
ギターリフ一発でガツンと来る曲はあまりないけれど、代わりにニッキー・ホプキンスとビリー・プレストンの鍵盤が、大活躍。
メンバーじゃない？いやあ、これぞストーンズでしょ。

「ベガーズ」＝アコースティックロックの名盤。「レットイットブリード」＝キースのギター一本での名盤。「スティッキー」＝オープンＧリフ発見、テイラー加入での名盤。「メインストリート」＝ほとんどスタジオライブ、生々しい名盤。
そして「ゴーツヘッドスープ」＝テイラーの円熟、プラス鍵盤の大活躍。オールスターでの集大成。特にテイラーはスライド、ワウ、時にはベースと、大車輪です。キースがちょっと元気ないけど。でも、もちろん名盤。

下位打線爆発、といった感じですか。いや、このバンドの下位打線は職人揃いで手ごわいぞ。

メロディが美しい
ピアノとギターのシンプルな組み合わせで,
こんなに世界観を出せるのかと感心させられる｡

I still love you baby,
everywhere I look I see your eyes

↑あたりがカッコいいです｡
詩も訳してみるとジーンとしてきます｡
けなげに愛し合う二人の姿が,
曲と詩から，何ともいえないムードを醸し出し，
絶妙に表現されています｡
