確かに値段は高いですが、それ以上の価値は間違いなくあります。
ザッパが'70年代に録音した音源を4枚のLPとして編集した音源。
事情により発売中止となってしまい、死後'96年に発表されました。
ジャンルを超えたザッパの姿をこの1セットでかなり網羅できていると思います。
録音時期も長期にわたる為、かなり豪華なメンバーが揃っています。

ザッパをどれから聞いたらいいのかわからない、とりあえずどんな音楽を作る人なのか知りたい
という方には強くお勧めします。
1曲も好きになれなかった方にはこれ以上ザッパは勧めません。

１９９６年リリースのＣＤ３枚組。私は値段につられて（笑）輸入盤を買いましたが、解説がついている日本盤の方が、より深くこのＣＤを楽しめると思います・・・安い中古の日本盤が欲しい！！私がたまたま当時切り取っていた雑誌の解説を引用すると、次のような内容のアルバムです・・・よくＣＤに入れてたと、自分で感心（笑）。「レザー」は元々７７年１０月３１日にザッパレコードの第１弾としてＬＰ４枚組ＢＯＸＳＥＴで発売されるはずだったが、ワーナーがボツにしてしまった。その後「ザッパインニューヨーク」「スタジオタン」「スリープダート」「オーケストラフェイヴァリッツ」の４作品としてバラした形でリリースされてしまった・・・ザッパとしては正式な形でのリリースを強く希望していた。悲願達成のＣＤ化ですね！！曲は基本的に４作品で聴けますが、バージョン違い（たとえば歌なし）があったりするので、要チェックです。ＣＤ３の５〜８がボーナストラックで、うち５〜７が完全未発表との事！はまればはまるほど新しい発見のある素晴らしいアルバム・・・本当カッコいい（演奏レベルは超一流、曲はとっても変態なんて）！！追記：このジャケット、なんか「原子心母」っぽくて大好き（笑）！！

個人的には、オリジナル・ジャケで、オリジナル盤の曲順、未発音源はありがたいけど、別盤で出して欲しかった。しかも高いし、これじゃザッパ初心者には薦められない。まあ楽曲的には、ザッパのコアであるが難しいところもあり、必ずしも入門者向けのアルバムではないと思っている。これでは、出た当初の意義が曖昧で、なんだか全体像がわかんない作品になってしまった。特にジャケ！私はこの牛野郎のせいで、しばらく買わなかったが、そのうち市場からなくなった。
