　泣きの『Black Napkins』大阪公演を収録した1976年作。この一枚は本当にちぐはぐな印象
で、全体を覆う雰囲気は直情傾向そのものでわかりやすいのに、サウンド自体がいかにも頭
のすこぶるキレる人が頭の中で固めた仕事みたいな感じがしてどうにも微妙。
　それもそのはずでこの一枚ではテリー・ボジオが全曲ドラムを担当してる以外ほとんどの
楽曲で、ほとんどの楽器（シンセ、キーボード、ベース、勿論ギター）をザッパ自身が担当
しているからだ。
　で、ボジオのプレイが冴えてれば救いもあるが何ともピンとこないし、やっぱりZappaは
人（怪物ばかりだが...）の輪の中でセッションやってなんぼなもんってな所がよくわかる。

　だが大阪公演音源の『Black Napkins』では大阪フィーリングに呼応したのか熱のこもる
グレートなギターソロを聴かせてくれるし、タイトルトラックの『Zoot Allures』なんかの
ギタープレイも味があって好いのもまた事実。
　総じてロックフィーリングに溢れてわかりやすいのにサウンド面で自然さに欠ける印象を
受ける本作だが実際問題Zappaの作品じゃなきゃ☆5で構わないのも事実で、そう思うとあまり
に彼の他作品が超複雑かつ超絶技巧にて尚且つ奇妙奇天烈なのに血液が循環してるように自然
で作り物めいてない所の方が異常だったりするんですよね。。

　まず代表作と云われるものから順番に20枚ぐらい聴いた後に「あっ、そう云えば大阪公演の
ブラック・ナプキンズを収録したズート・アリュアーズってなやつがあったなぁ〜。日本人と
してこれは聴いておくかー。」ってなノリで手にするのが正解。

１９７６年リリースのフランクザッパとテリーボジオの共同作業で制作されたアルバム・・・個人的にはザッパの中で一番好きなアルバムです！！ジャケットにはテリーボジオ・エディジョブソン・パトリックオーハンが写っており、それだけで買いでした・・・但し、エディとパトリックは参加していないので注意！！内容は最高にかっこいいＺＡＰＰＡ流ロックアルバムで、彼のギターが素晴らしいです・・・２曲目インスト「ブラックナプキン」は１９７６年２月大阪公演のライブテイク、必聴！！３曲目「拷問は果てしなく」はキャプテンビーフハートの生活を歌った曲・・・独特のグルーヴ炸裂の超怪しい曲です！！８曲目タイトルトラック「ズートアリュアーズ」は静かなる超絶インストで、フランクのギターセンスがメチャクチャ光っています！！９曲目｢ディスコボーイ」はこの当時流行していたＤＩＳＣＯを皮肉った曲で、脳天気ロックに仕上がっていて最高ですよ（裏声はテリー！！！！）。テリーボジオの超絶ドラムが全曲で楽しめる最高にかっこいいアルバム！！！！！！！！！！！

１９７６年発表の個人的に一番ＺＡＰＰＡの中で好きなアルバム。基本的にザッパと超絶技巧ドラマーテリーボジオの二人で制作されたアルバムです。ＺＡＰＰＡと言うと敬遠してしまいがちですが、テリーがＵ．Ｋ．やブレッカーブラザースに参加した事を考えれば、決して難解ではない部類のアルバム・・・ＺＡＰＰＡのギターは本当カッコイイよ！！ジャケットにエディジョブソンとパトリックオーハン（この人のベースは凄い！！）が写っていますが、参加してないので注意！！不乱苦雑派流ロック炸裂の１枚。
