ウェスモンゴメリーにデディケートということですが、確かにウェスの曲をやっているし、オクターブ奏法をやっているのでそれはその通り。でも、それよりも良いのが、リーが落ち着いた感じで集中力を込めてギターを弾いていること。全体的なサウンドがいつもより引き締まった感じがすること。僕自身はいつも音楽を聴く時は、リズム隊を最初に聴く癖があるんだけど、メルヴィンデイビスと、ハーヴィーメイソンの出しているリズムが力強くツボを押さえていて全体的なトーンを作っていて良いですね。曲に関して言えばどれも好きなのですが、一番オッと思ったのは、リーの作曲した8曲目の"Ocean Ave."。メロディといい、リーのギターソロといい、アランブロードベンドのかっこいいピアノソロといい、このアルバムではベストな出来だと思った。リーのオクターブ奏法がそれほどウェスしているとは思いませんが、ウェスのスタイルを借りたところで、リーリトナーの強い個性をストレートに表現できたところが良かったです。非常に説得力があって、しかもかっこ良く楽しい音楽。また、CTIのウェスが好きな人は、9曲目の"Road Song"は、オリジナルよりさらに強力に迫って来て感涙でしょう。

多くのジャズ・ギタリストにとってウェスは特別な存在である。
リー・リトナーにとっても例外ではない。
リー・リトナーが1993年（奇しくもウェスの没後25年に当たる）に発表
したのがこのアルバム。ウェスの作品とリーのオリジナルが大体半分ずつ
おさめられている。
リーはその完璧なテクニックの故にやや機械的な印象を持たれてきたふし

もあるが、ここではウェスの温かみ、大きさをみごとに表現している。

タイトルとジャケの格好良さだけで買ったCD。
だからたいして聴いていなかった。
ギタリストとしてはラリー・カールトンの方が好きだったし。
でも最近かけてみたら、これがいい。

以前は退屈に思えたりトナーのギターが
味わい深くて心に響く。
夜や夕方よりも、
晴れた週末の朝に聴くとすごくいい。
アルバム全体の雰囲気がいいから、

シャッフルモードで、通して聴くととても気持ちいい。

ボブ・ジャームスやハービー・メイスンの
バンドサウンドもいい感じ。
3曲目に入っている「4 on 6」のオルガンサウンドが
ファンキーでいけてます。
ボブ・マーレー「Waiting in vain」のカバーが入っていて、
ボーカルはマキシ・プリースト。
この共演は楽しい。

ジャケットの中面に入っている、

ウエス・モンゴメリーの笑顔写真が最高。
白いシャツに黒いネクタイ。
これぞズージャって感じの名ショット。
