ジャズ鍵盤奏者デイブグルーシンのサウンドトラックアルバムでも傑作中の傑作で完成度が高い。単なるサントラなんてレベルは軽く超えている。映画がなくてもこれだけで十分楽しめる内容になっている。演奏陣も凄いがサックスのアーニ-ワッツのソウルフルな演奏が光る（この人のソロも良い）。デイブグルーシンのすばらしいところはアレンジ能力がずば抜けていることである、すごくしゃれていて、ストリングアレンジなんか鳥肌ものである。収穫としてはミシェルファイファーのボーカルが聞けることである。才能があるとはいえないが、曲の雰囲気に溶け込んでいてよい。その他の曲でもよくスイングしており、バラードではサックスがすばらしい感情表現をしている。後半のデュークエリントンオーケストラの演奏もレトロでいい味を出している。捨て曲なしの珍しいアルバムである。こんなのを作ってしまうデイブグルーシンの音楽的な才能はほんとすごいのひとこと。

僕は、ミッシェルファイファーの大ファン。地球上で一番好きな女優。そしてデイブグルーシンは、地球上で一番好きなアーティスト。ということで、このアルバムに満点をつけないでどうするんだって感じ。まずメインタイトルの曲の美しさに心を打たれます。アーニーワッツの心のこもったテナーの音が感動的。"SOFT ON ME"。綺麗な曲ですね。"まさか私が好きになったんじゃないわよね”のあのシーンで流れた曲ですね。デイブのロマンチックな面がふわっと出てきていて素晴らしいです。ミュートで素敵なソロをとっているのは、サルマルケスですね。デイブのサウンドに彼のトランペットはぴったり。。でも何と言っても、最後に入っている"マイ・ファニー・ヴァレンタイン"。ミッシェルファイファー、歌うまい！　デイブのアレンジもピアノの歌伴も最高で涙ものです。

P.S. ところで、"Lullaby of Birdland"ですが、映画で弾いていたピアニストとは多分この人違うでしょ？　曲に対するアプローチの仕方も、ソロのニュアンスも違っている。僕は映画での演奏の方が好きでした。でも、あれはデイブグルーシンが弾いていた訳でもないでしょうから、いったい誰が弾いていたんでしょうか？

鮮やかなアレンジとゴージャスなジャズフィーリングが見事にブレンドされた音楽。１０点中１０点。最も優れたジャズキーボーディストのうちのひとり。
