3ds maxのような高額のソフトを買おうとするユーザーがphotoshopなど使ったこともないということは普通考えにくい。　専門学校の新入生というような特別な立場を除けば、他の3DCGソフトを触ったことがないというユーザーすら珍しいのではないか。　それにしてはこの本は画像処理のイロハから始まり、ソフトの説明というよりCGとはとか、3DCGを使う意義とか、資格についてとか、そういうことばかりにページを割いている印象がある（無論この分厚い本だから、そればかりではないが）。　

なぜなのだろうと考えて気がついた。　この本は「専門学校の新入生というような特別な立場」にある人が、学校の予習復習を自宅でするためのトライアル版という商品なのだ。　tipsなど書かれていなくても、その人たちは学校などでいくらでもそういう知識には触れられるから、概論だけで充分だというのがこの商品の考え方である。　

「オフィシャル」と銘打ってあるとおり、7のトライアル版はいまのところこの本にしかついていない模様。　本体は40万円前後するのだから、それだけで買う価値がある、とも言える。　tipsが知りたければ、6以前の名著と、最新の専門誌を併読することが望ましい。

以前LWを使用していて、仕事でMAXを使うことになったので、MAXを練習するための参考書として購入しました。
確かに、大きな視野で3DCGという分野を知るためにはいいかもしれません。が、3dsMAXを練習するための参考書としては、この価格に納得できていません。
説明文では省かれている表現が多く、この本の中の演習をしているにもかかわらず、結局何度もwebで調べながら進めております。
3Dの概念を勉強するきっかけにはなりそうだし、MAX使いが近くにいれば、分からないことも聞けていいかもしれませんが、それだったら最初から参考書なんか買いませんしね。
まず、市販の参考書を買ってMAXを使えるようになろう！と考えている方には、お勧めできません。
使っていて頭に来ることが多くて、また犠牲者を出してはかわいそうだと思い、初めてレビューさせていただきました。
私の言うことが100％正しいとは限りませんので、他の方のレビューも合わせて参考にして選んで見てください。

この本で3ds Maxの操作を習得できる人などありえません。
不親切極まりない記述で、「〜せよ」は書かれていても「どうする」は書かれていません。
つまり、すでに高度に使いこなせる人が読んだ場合だけ理解できる本であり、そういう人には必要もありません。

かたわらに3ds Maxを高度に使いこなせる人がいる人だけ、買ってください。付録ＤＶＤの資料や素材にはいいものの含まれていますので、「ちゃんと使えて説明できる人」を通じてならば、それらを存分に活用できるでしょう。

例として「住宅モデリング」の解説では、記述の通りに作業しようとしても、１日１ページも進みません。加えて実に要領の悪い手順が書かれており、現場ならもっと他の手法を取るところです。

「オフィシャルトレーニング」とかいってますが、どこに具体的なトレーニングがあるというのでしょうか？いい加減にして欲しいと思う本です。
