茨木のり子さんの訃報を知り、偉大な才能と良識とを備えた「大人」が、また一人いなくなってしまったのだなあ・・・と思いました。そしてこの本を読み返してみたのでした。

茨木さんのまなざしは、内にも外にも厳しく、同じくらいやさしく、詩はユーモアにまぶされ、みずみずしく軽々としている。敷居の高さを感じさせず、それでいて凛としている。自分の感受性の湖を、それが弱いものであれ強いものであれそのままそっくり枯れてしまわぬよう守り続けよと訴える。それはとても難しいことだけれど、勇気づけられもする。恋の詩もある。現在進行形の恋ではなく、いつか現れるべき人を待つ詩など、可憐でいとおしい。

本書は文庫サイズのハードカバーで、装丁・画も落ち着いたかわいらしさがある。『倚りかからず』は本棚に置きたいが、本書は会社の事務机の中に、鏡台の引き出しに（デスクやドレッサーではなくこんな表現を使いたくなる）ひそませておき、時々取り出して読むのがふさわしいように感じる。「汲む」という詩があるが、今回久しぶりに読み返してみて、年代や状況によって、同じ詩でも「汲む」ものが異なってくることに気づいた。それがすぐれた詩のもつ魅力というものなのだろう。

こんな詩が書かれている。
　　　さくらふぶきの下を　ふららと歩けば
　　　一瞬
　　　名僧のごとくにわかるのです
　　　死こそ常態
　　　生はいとしき蜃気楼と　（「さくら」より抜粋）
今年の桜の前に茨木さんは逝ってしまわれた。心からご冥福をお祈りします。

学生時代の国語の教科書以外で詩に触れたことのない私が初めて買った詩集です。どの詩も大変素敵ですが、特に「汲む」という作品は、毎日の仕事に追われて渇きがちな私にすーっと染み込んでいった、素晴らしい詩です。「初々しさが大切なの　人に対しても世の中に対しても」というフレーズを目にした途端、男性の多い業界で負けじと肩肘張っていた私の心を不思議な温かさで満たしてくれ、それまでの余裕のなくなっていた我が身を振り返ってハッとしました。世知辛い世で、忘れがちなものを思い出させてくれる、宝物です。

茨木のり子さんの言葉は、私の中の触れられたくない部分に光を当てます。強く厳しい視線で、自分を再認識させ、顔を上げて歩き出すための強さも奮い立たせてくれます。同時に、優しく暖かい視線で囲まれた自分に気付かされるのです。
