５文型の説明に始まり、イソップの短編を用いた構文の説明、それらの短編に用いられた単語の品詞の説明まで、実に丁寧にそして非常にすっきりと説明されています。英語の基礎ができている人が読んでも得るところ大であります。英語の先生方には是非通読して欲しい。中学生上級から高校・大学生・社会人まで読むに耐える本であります。精読の方法を教えてくれる本です。

　とても親切に英文の読み方が記述されています。フレーズ毎の意味のつながりが明確になります。多読で英文が読めるようになる方法とは対極にある英文精読勉強法が紹介されています。
　私の場合、何となく読めていた英文が、すっきり理解できたという清々しさが味わえました。英文を読んでいて、もやもやしていたのが嘘のようです。

　また、中学生でも読めるように、懇切丁寧に記述されていますが、内容は奥深いものを感じさせます。いい本です。

英文を読むには文法知識が必要です。文法知識のうち五文型は基礎の基礎ですが，個人でマスターするのは困難です。この本は易しい英文で文の要素を説明しています。独習用として適切なものであると思います。英語は苦手だったが，一念発起してやり直そうとしている方，まずこの本で基礎固めを行い、さらにこの著者の他の本に移っていくと良いでしょう。
入門書として古谷三郎先生の近著もお薦めです。
