レビュータイトルは収録作品の一つですが、すごいタイトルです。
切り捨てられた人の血で曼荼羅が描かれている紙帳に潜む登場人物を示すタイトルですが、なかなかこのタイトルをつけられる人はいないでしょう。
キワモノかと思って読んでみれば、名剣「天国（あまくに）」を巡る因縁話に、昔盗賊が隠した財宝や、敵討ち、美女が絡んで、なかなか読み応えがあります。
何といっても驚くのが情景描写の美しさ。舞台となる武蔵野の自然をただ美しく描くだけではなく、森の中に白い紙帳が浮かび上がる様子、月夜の庭を気のふれた老人がさまよう様子など、触れれば切れるような繊細な描写で描かれています。
高い本ですが、図書館で借りるなり、青空文庫で読むなりする価値は十分あるでしょう。
