近代魔術の良心、バトラーの重要な著作です。
近代魔術の基本思想をこの本一冊でほとんど学べてしまう
というお買い得な内容です。

問題は翻訳がこなれていないので、一度この本を通読した人は
原文を入手して確認しながら再度読み込んで、消化していくこと
をお勧めします。
たとえばinvocationやevocationの訳語が不思議な言葉になっています。
勘違いがおきないためにも、英語原文との照合が必要です。

内容は本当にかなり良い物です。
西洋魔法の概念や基本知識を知りたい人と少々訓練してみたい人にはかなりのオススメです。
これほど近代魔法の全てを浅すぎず、深すぎず語れる本はなかなかないでしょう。
比喩も多く、危険性と必ずやるべき事をすべて解説しているので、初心者には最適！
入門者必須と言っても過言ではないと想います。

ただこの本の文章が少々読みにくいですね…
時々、一句がとても長く、一句を読み終わったら、「あれ？何がこうなったんだっけ？」とか思い、読み直さなければいけない時も…
あと、時々説明なしの専用名語が出てきたり、聖書のあの部分だとか言われたりするので、「知らないんですけど」何て思う時もあります。

しかし、それでもこれは人生でも見る価値がある本なので、是非読んで頂きたいです。
