谷川 俊太郎
1931年東京生まれ。18歳頃から試作を始め、1952年「二十億光年の孤独」を刊行。「櫂」同人。詩、翻訳、創作わらべうたなど幅広く活躍している。1983年「日々の地図」で読売文学賞を受賞。またレコード大賞作詞賞、サンケイ児童出版文化賞、日本翻訳文化賞なども受賞。子どものための詩や童話も多い。

和田　誠
1936年生まれ。イラストレーター、グラフィックデザイナー。著書は『ねこのシジミ』『パイがいっぱい』ほか多数。2006年、絵本『どんなかんじかなあ』(中山千夏・文)で第11回日本絵本賞を受賞。文春漫画賞、講談社出版文化賞さしえ賞、毎日デザイン賞、菊池寛賞ほか多数受賞。1977年より「週刊文春」の表紙を担当。

ページをめくるごとに言葉がつながって、ラストには長ーい文章になります。
この絵本はいろいろ応用が利くので重宝します。
先日読み聞かせの講習会ではパネルシアター仕立てでした。
ＮＨＫテレビ絵本では谷川俊太郎さんの変化に富んだバージョンがありましたし、
早口で練習してその技を競うのも一案です。
小学生くらいなら１回読んだだけで、それでは次に皆さんご一緒に、と振っても、
けっこう覚えてついてきてくれます。
実は大人もけっこうムキになって唱和してくれますよ。
我が家では銀行員や市長さんや泥棒やらをアトランダムにして、
でたらめバージョンにして盛り上がりました。
「これはお相撲さんが住んでいるのみのぴこのしっぽ~。」
和田誠さんの絵が何とも効果抜群です。

テレビで作者自身が朗読をしていたのを見たことがあります。その時は、何だろうと思っていたけど、この本は実際に自分で声に出して読むことが肝心です。子ども（小一）も、テンポよくあっという間に暗唱してしまい、自分のオリジナル？まで作ってしまいました。
和田誠さんの絵もとってもたのしい。

図書館で声を出して読むわけには行かないのでやっぱり手元に置いておきたい一冊です。文句なしに星５つです。

この本を呼んで英語の積み上げ話"This is the house that Jack built."を思い浮かべました。これはジャックが建てた家と次々と文を修飾してその家の中にいる動物や人を説明していく話です。お話がどんどん積みあがっていく感じのものです。この「これはのみのぴこ」では、のみのぴこがどこにいるのか周りの動物や人などが出てきて、読み手にとってその度に視点が変わっていく印象を与えます。これは日本版の積み上げ話だと思います。英語は接続詞で右側にどんどん繋がっていくのに対して、日本語ではどんどん前に修飾されていっています。対照的ですよねー。それからこの本は声に出して読むとリズムが心地よい本なので大好きです。
