この本を手に入れてから、香港に旅行した時の食生活がガラリと変わりました。 この本に紹介されているのは、どこも地元の人で大賑わいの、安くておいしいお店ばかりです。 どのガイドブックにも載っているような店が全く無視されていたり、ホテルのコンシェルジュが紹介してくれた店が、 「観光客相手の高くてまずい店」とこき下ろされていたり、

読むだけでも楽しい、役に立つ本です。

香港のグルメ（あるいは食いしん坊）が何を食べているか？どんなレストランの何を評価するのか？１９９７年の発売当時は、香港のレストランガイドとしてむさぼるように読んだし、香港訪問の参考にした。しかし時は流れ、移り変わりの激しい香港では消えてなくなったレストラン、まずくなったレストランも多く、情報としてはほとんど役にたたない。しかし、筆者の中国料理に対する限りない愛情と筆力にを評価して星３つとする。発売当時であれば、当然星５つの出来栄えである。（松本敏之）
