　銀座の真ん中で本物のハチミツを採取するプロジェクトの一部始終を追ったドキュメントです。

　2006年の春、銀座４丁目の交差点にほど近い「紙パルプ会館」ビルの屋上に、３つのミツバチの巣箱が運び込まれました。銀座ではたらく人々が結成した「銀座ミツバチプロジェクト」が、いよいよ活動をスタートさせたのです。
　ミツバチたちは元気に巣から顔を出し、銀座の真ん中のビルから、春の空に次々と飛び立っていきました。

　メンバーは、ミツバチが一生懸命に蜜を集めてくる姿に、いままで経験したことのない感動を覚えます。
　なにしろ、自分の体重の四分の一くらい蜜を吸い、両足に花粉をつけて戻ってくるのです。人間にたとえると、スイカを３つくらい持ち運んでいるような姿を見ると、「がんばれよ」と応援する気持ちになりました。

　せっかく銀座で採取したハチミツは銀座で使ってもらうことになり、マドレーヌやケーキなどのお菓子の材料になったり、「銀座のハチミツ」をテーマにしたカクテルに使われました。

　本書には、ミツバチの生態も解説してあり、さらに、このプロジェクトを取材した米倉斉加年（俳優）の寄稿や、地元の人がこのプロジェクトに寄せる思いも載っています。

　かつて地方から上京した貧乏な演劇青年だった米倉氏は、収入の乏しいなか、現実に押しつぶされそうになると銀座に出ました。手の届かない高級品に見とれ、歩く人々の華やかなファッションを観察して過ごしていたのです。
　　銀座は現実も夢と同様に届かなかった。だから銀座なのだ――。
と米倉氏はふり返ります。

　収量も当初の５倍に増え、週に２０キロのハチミツの収穫が続くようになった６月、都内の養蜂家に引き取られて、2006年のプロジェクトはいったん終了を迎えます。

　2007年のプロジェクトスタートも、もうすぐです。
