いつもBBSをのぞき見しているだけだったので
そのBBSで話題になっていることについて
ECDが考えていることがわかっておもしろかった。
身近なことから難しい話まで、たくさんあったけど
レコードを奪われそうになったはなしと、いいとも！のはなしと
ベアーズのライブのはなしが特に好きでした。
私も日記をつけようかと思いました。
DVDが売り切れでまだ見れてないので残念。

ラッパー、ECDの日記（2004年2月18日から5月29日までの3カ月分）＋自伝的短編小説「迷信」を収録。
サウンド・デモへの参加や自身のライヴ・アクト、音楽業界の動向に対するスタンスの取り方、恋愛や友人たちとの付き合いといった日常の中で動きつつ考え、考えつつ動く思考／志向が平易な言葉でしぶとく書き綴られている。
けっして長くない日記の記述は、至る所でエリック・ホッファーの如き活きた知性を感じさせるうえに、一気に読ませ、良質のエンタテインメントとしても楽しめる。

思索するという行為が、それぞれの実践の場面で自らの精神を解放するというシンプルな事実を力強く示しているそのことが、本書の何よりの収穫だろう。
生活において沈思黙考も必要だが、そのように深く静かに考えることと、自らの想念にがんじがらめにされて実践の契機を見失うこととは全く別のことがらなのだ。
物事を真剣に考えることは、その思考が現実の一歩を踏み出すためのジャンピング・ボードにはなりえても、足を竦ませたり、踏み出した一歩を引っ張ったりはしない。

ECDという稀有なイノヴェイターの思索を通じて、日頃忘れがちなこうした思弁の運動を目撃すること。
ここには、インディペンデントの最良の精神のひとつがたしかに息づいている。

余談だけれども、カルチュラル・スタディーズ（CS）が大学院生の論文生産装置（いわゆる「カルスタ」）へと換骨奪胎されて久しい。もちろん、そんなものは必要に迫られた「お勉強」以外では読まずに済ませればいいのだけれど、同時にCSというアプローチそのものの有効性をロクに検討することもなく、ひとからげにクズとばかりに批判することもまた似たり寄ったりの愚かしさを露呈するだけだ。
CSを云々するのならまずこれを読もう。

ご本人はこういう紹介を拒否するでしょうが、コピーコントロール技術施策に反対して、メジャーレーベルから独立したことで知られるラッパーの著作です。
『文藝』に発表された小編が加えられたほかは、2004年2月18日から5月29日までの日記が主です。自由な立場で、輸入盤規制問題、イラク人質事件、「２ちゃんねる」など、いろんな話題に、情緒的すぎず、理知的すぎず、個人的すぎず、社会的すぎずに、自分の率直な意見を述べています。勉強になりました。もっとECDの本も読みたく、そしてCDも聴いてみたくなりました。
