明治10年代と現在の地形図を対照させ、現代の地形図には詳細な河川と河道跡を記載。
さらに本文は、ひとつひとつの川の流路や歴史、エピソードについて詳しく解説してあります。
よけいなコメントもなく、持ち歩いて使いやすい一冊。
さっそく消えた川跡を探して歩きたくなります。

街中ハイキングは、川跡探しみたいなテーマを持って歩くと、楽しさも十倍に増えますね。
しかも本書で紹介されている『笄川』は、私が小中学校時代に通学路に使っていた場所なので、なつかしさも有って、高額なのに買ってしまいました。
本書は街中ハイキングのテーマの宝庫ですね。

東京の川が好き・東京の地形が好き・東京の歴史が好きな方には強力におススメします。
23区の川を網羅し地図付きで解説する本で、各地図にはなんと同地の古地図も付いています。
解説は区ごと・川ごとに箇条書きで書かれているのでまさに「辞典」。湧水や運河についての記載もあります。
私は都内の暗渠を巡る時に携行し大変重宝していますが、普段読むにも読み応えがあって楽しめます。
「空川の川跡」や「羅漢寺川の川跡」についての図などは多少誤記かと思われる点もありますが、それは非常に細かいこと。このような網羅性・一覧性を持った資料はこの価格では他にないのでは？本当に買ってよかったと思っています。
