　英語を身につけるために、たくさんの本を読もうという多読。その教材に適切なGraded Readersや児童書は、長く出版される本もある一方、思いの外絶版にもなり新刊も出るのですね。初版に掲載された9,000冊の本のうち、手に入れにくくなったタイトルを削除し、新しく刊行されたものを収録して12,000冊の本のデータが収録されています。　
　旧版と大幅に違うのは、Leveled Readers、Graded Readers紹介ページの充実と、シリーズ・作家名がレベル順ではなく、アルファベット順に記載されるようになったことです。

　第2章のLeveled Readers・Graded Readersシリーズ紹介には、概括的な説明、シリーズの各LEVELごとのYL・総語数・1文の平均語数・1ページの平均語数・総ページ数の一覧表、表紙、原寸大活字見本、ページ見本（一部シリーズのみ）が入っています。実物を手に取る機会のない方も、これを参照すればほとんど不安なく通販でお買物出来ることと思います。
　主要部分であるデータ頁は、シリーズ・作家名がアルファベット順に掲載されるようになり、Roald DahlでもDahl, Roaldでも引ける索引もありますから、SSS掲示板や、たくさん出来てきた多読関連ブログなどで見つけた面白そうな本が、自分に読めるかどうか調べることが容易になったと思います。
　「レベル2が終ったから今度はレベル3のシリーズを買いたいなぁ、どれが良いかしら？」、という調べ方をしたい場合に使いやすかった旧版が無駄にはならないように出来ています。

初版を使い慣れているので、今回の改訂版は初めとても
判りづらい印象がありました。
確かに良く見てみると、まとめ方がシンプルでいいと
思うのですが、私などのように初版をボロボロになるまで
使い込んだ方にはとっつきにくいかもしれません。
ですので、初版と両方使用しています。
探しやすい方を利用していますね。

ただ今回から初めて多読を始められる方にはおすすめです。
判りやすく説明しているので、あらすじや感想を読んでいる
だけでも楽しいかもしれません。
この本に載っている作品を手にしたときのあの喜びも
なかなかのものです。
感想やレビューが初版と同じものがあるので、もう少し
工夫が欲しかった。

この本の特徴。

１　自分のレベルがわかる
２　本のレベルがわかる
３　自分と同じレベルの本が見つかる
４　自分の興味に合わせて、次々と読みたい本がでてくる

買ってみたものの、読めなかった、、、という悲しい事態を回避できる。
お金の節約にもなるしね。
