2001年、労働安全衛生法が改正され、就職時の健康診断項目の義務づけが廃止されました。しかしまだ、就職の際の採用制限がある職種もあり、眼科医の中には、検査の必要性を唱える医師もいるのが現状です。また、2003年度の定期健康診断から「色覚の検査」が削除されました。今後は、教職員・保護者へ理解を深め、だれもが安心して学べる学校の環境づくりを進めていくことが必要です。また、力を試すチャンスさえ与えられないような不合理なことを断じて許してはならないのです。本書が、養護教員部運動の柱の一つである「健康診断を人権の視点から見なおす」ことの論議を深めるための参考になるでしょう。
