写真満載はもちろん、歌右衛門を採り上げた新聞や雑誌の記事の一覧、インタビューなど、これ以上ない充実の内容。特に、ブロマイド集は数も美しさも正に圧巻。プライベート写真も沢山で、彼の素顔に触れる事もできる。カラー写真は余りなく、カラーで大判の写真を集めたものではなく、前記のプロマイド一覧や、生い立ちの写真、貴重な若い頃の舞台の写真が死ぬほどあり、記事集など、かなりまとまった資料集としての価値が高いように思う。とにかく、実にこの人は「舞台」に徹した、まさしく全身歌舞伎役者、全身女形だったのだと実感する。
彼の生き様については中村 歌右衛門 (著), 山川 静夫 (著)『歌右衛門の六十年―ひとつの昭和歌舞伎史』（岩波新書 黄版 328）がおすすめ！

1959年三島由紀夫が編集した
超ゴーカな、超大判の写真集があります。
図書館の書庫資料を借りて読んだんですが
本当にステキな写真ばっかりで実にゴージャス。
でも限定500部、古書価格が15万円以上では望むべくもなく、
欲しいけどあきらめていたのですが・・・
この本はそれをそのまんまコンパクトにした感じの内容。
これがこの値段とは・・・
ああうれし！！
即買っちゃいました。
満足です。ラブ歌右衛門。
特に古いブロマイドの歌右衛門は若くてしなやかで
ほんっとーにこの世のものとも思えないほどキレイ！
とってもお値打ちだと思います。
