1953年韓国、ソウル生まれ。1975年延世大学商学部経営学科卒業(ソウル)。1979年‐1985年ドイツ、ハンブルク留学、ハンブルク国立造形美術大学写真デザイン専攻、修士号取得。1986年‐1998年中央大学校講師。1992年ハンブルク国際美術アカデミー招請教授。1994年ウルズラブリックル賞受賞、クライヒタル(ドイツ)。1997年キングストン大学スタンレーピッカーギャラリー国際研究員(ロンドン)。1999年セントラルセントマーティンス大学招請教授(ロンドン)。1999年‐2001年桂園造形芸術大学写真学科教授(ソウル)。2000年イー・ミョンドン写真賞受賞(ソウル)。2003年カンウォンド賞受賞(韓国)(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)
