往年の女性アイドルのインタビュー集である。
登場する元アイドルの大半は80年代に活躍した人たちで、筆者の年代(40代）にはなじみ深い。30半ばから40にさしかかった彼女たちが今、当時をどう振り返るのか、興味があって手にとってみた。

とにかくアイドルの仕事は大変なようである。撮影に行った先でいきなりヌードを強制された、というようなヤクザな話もひとつや二つではない。これをもって仕事といえるのか、少なくとも「労働」ではなさそうだ。

楽屋ネタや暴露話もおもしろいが、それよりも、彼女たちが笑顔のウラでイジメやら金銭問題やら家庭問題やら恋愛問題やらでボロボロになりながらも、今もしぶとく芸能界で生きのびているところが興味深い。

同じインタビューでも、ビジネス書の有名経営者のインタビューや政治家のインタビューとは、相当毛色が違う。雲の上のヒト、と意味では、大会社の社長も政治家もアイドルも似たようなものだと思うが、アイドルたちのインタビューには、理屈ではない肉体的身体的感覚に溢れていてリアリティがある。個性とは肉体そのものである、と養老孟司氏が言っていたが、それをふと思い出した。

40代の男性諸氏には懐かしい。一読をお勧めしたい。

　世間的にもメジャーな面々、しかも対象が女性のみということで
芸能事務所的縛りなんかがあったのかもしれないがいつもの
吉田豪的なギリギリ感は薄い。しかし、世間的には十分物騒な本であることは間違いない。
　近年、80年代の"元"アイドルが「現役当時は話せなかった裏話」
なノリ（ロンブー司会が似合うような番組ですよ）で話をしたり
するのだが明らかにそんな98％期待はずれな番組とは一線を画す。
　
　インタビューは、本人が過去発言した言質や、噂話などを検証する形で進んでいく。相変わらず「本人より詳しい」のはさすがだ。上にも書いたがさすがにギリギリ度は低い。しかし、"アイドル"稼業の過酷さを検証するには十分すぎるギリギリ度である。

　そしてインタビューとは真逆のテンションのあとがき。これはネタバレなので書かないが、インタビューとのギャップに戸惑うが、一度通読し、あとがきを読んで再びインタビューを読み返すと、コクが増した味わいとなることだろう。

　いつもの吉田豪を期待する向きにはお勧めしないが、あとがきにかいてあるように、アイドル好き男子よりも現役アイドル、アイドルを目指している人には必読の書であることは間違いない。

　ＴＢＳラジオの月曜日昼のコラムを担当する吉田氏が、２２人の元アイドルにインタビューした。
　・・・「何が原因で一時は精神的に壊れて、それをどうやって克服したのか（あとがき）」・・・。
　使い捨て商品であることを運命づけられたアイドルたち。その大部分は、全盛期を過ぎれば、メディアから消える。しかし、彼女たちは、その後も、生き続けねばならない。吉田氏は、そんな彼女たちを、丹念に調べる（「このインタビューは、なんでも調べてくるから怖い　我妻佳代　Ｐ１７１」）。しかし、吉田氏は、バランス感覚を失うことなく、あくまで、人間としての彼女たちの魅力に迫る。そして、いろいろな経験を経て、成熟した彼女たちは、肩から力の抜けた魅力をふりまく。
　強さ、たくましさ。それぞれのリラックスした表情を見ると、２０年ぶりに再会する同窓生のようだ。いろいろあったろうけど、生きていてくれて、本当に、良かった。
