~私は廃墟の力強さに興味がありました。
ただ、記録的な写真集や戦争はダメです的な本には全く興味がありませんでした。

この本ではその辺のことは全くないことと学者などが書いてるわけでもなく自分自身で撮影されてきた写真を載せているってことですごく親近感を感じることができました。
構成やレイアウトもシンプルだけど見やすくて気に入っています~~。~

日本中の戦跡を探し、バイクで右往左往。
北でトーチカを作った人と一緒にドライブし、
西で高射砲台跡に住むおっさんに「コーヒーでもいれるか？」と言われる。
フットワークの良さもさることながら、よくこんなの見つけたなあという眼力の確かさ。
僕も国内はけっこう回ってるけどこんなにあるなんて全然気がつかなかった。
ヘンに湿っぽくない作りがいい。彼が作成した図も楽しい。
戦争を物語化したり、都合のいいように改変せず、戦争遺跡をカタログのように紹介するという手法が逆にリアリティを感じさせますね。

今度これを持って今度旅に出ようっと。

僕たちは戦争を知らない世代として日本の中で生きている。

僕たちは当事者じゃないことによって、語ることを許されない一方で、その非当事者性によって、語ることを免除されている。

自分が行って、その場で見て触れる、そのことどんな意味があるのかを、書籍というメディアでしか伝えられないもどかしさ。このもどかしさがあるからこそ、戦争についてリアルに考えてみることを促されてしまうのだ。
