基本的なことから最新の部分まで、簡潔にまとめてあると思います。これからアポトーシスをはじめたい方には最適かも知れません。既にされている方にはちょっと物足りないかもしれません。

アポトーシスの分野では、アルファベットの羅列で分子の名前を付けているものが多いですよね。FADDとかTRAFとか…。混乱しませんか？！僕はします。特に論文を読んでいるときなど、これって何だったっけ？！などと思考が中断されて、論文がちっとも読めません。頭が悪いだけなのかも知れませんが、そんなときにこの本は役に立ちます。もちろん最初から最後まで読んだ後、どこに何が書いてあったかくらいは覚えておかないとダメかも知れませんが、すぐにページをめくって頭の中を整理しています。そういう意味では、この本、優れものです（「わかる実験医学シリーズ」全般に言えることですね）。

アポトーシスを全く知らない人が１から読むにしては細かすぎるものの、
アポトーシス研究をやろうとしている人にとっては必読の知識がよくまとめられている。

アポトーシスと一口に言っても、実に様々な角度からのアプローチがあり、
語りはじめればキリがないわけだが、本書はアポトーシス研究の第一人者たちが
自分たちの得意とする研究分野についてを簡潔にわかりやすくまとめてくれているため、
刊行から５年たった今でも入門書としておすすめできる。

アポトーシス初心者は、ぜひこれを読んで勉強して欲しい。
ちょっとハードルが高いと感じた人は、概論と自分に関連の深い分野のみを
ピックアップして理解しておくというのもよいだろう。
本書で基礎知識をおさえ、それから最新の論文に手を出せば、理解の速度もだいぶ違ってくるはずである。
