「頑固オヤジによる解説！」という印象が強いです。オムニバス形式とでも言えばいいのでしょうか、頻繁に出くわすであろう各疾患、各病態が、章建てで繰り返し解説されており、鑑別疾患、その特徴的身体所見がいつの間にか頭に入る（であろう）という体になっています。解剖学の重要性についてももちろん随所に触れられており、検査に頼りがちな現状を批判する表現もありますが、自分のやり方（自分の病院のスタンダード）と比較してみるのも、また一興かと思います。量としては1日足らずで読めてしまうのもいいですね。

　名著です。その疾患にともなう、病歴、経過、身体所見、画像所見、鑑別診断がいきいきとかかれています。ロウテクというか、特別な機器をもちいず、病歴などの問診と丁寧な診察で診断を導いていきます。医学の原点に返った感じ。

　日本で、こんなにふるくから、読み継がれて、版を重ねた医学書ってあるかしら。英文も平易でよみやすいけれど、時間のない方は、日本語でも。

学生のころから知っていたCopeの名著で、
「いつか読まなきゃ」と思っていたのですが、
今回日本語版をみつけ即買いました。
価格的にも英語版とあまり変わらないので、
とってもよいお買い物だと思いますよ。
現在救急病院で勤務していますが、参考になる点が多数ありました。
学生さんや、研修医に御勧めの一冊です。
有名になるべくしてなっている本だと実感しています。
簡単そうで難しい虫垂炎の章は、さらっとでもいいので読んでみることを御勧めします。
