臨床の勉強を一通り終えた医学生は、躊躇いなく手に取るべき。"Diagnostic strategies for internal medicine"(Mosby)での症例検討勉強会を行っていたときも、これが非常に参考になった。臨床医になるのなら勿論、基礎医になるにしてもこれで得られた幅広く深い知識は必ず役に立つ筈である。

同様の書籍にCecilもあり、「どっちにするか、、」と迷うこともあると思う。内容を見ると、Cecilはessentialであり、Harissonはadvancedであることから、各人の目的によりいずれを使うか、あるいはいずれも使うか、、ということは自ずと決まると思う。

~文句なしに内科学教科書の定番です。研修医のころから、この本をメインの教科書にして、他の本は参考書として読むのが正しいと思います。Cecilに比べれば哲学があるのが昔からの特徴と思います。各疾患についても、ポイントを押さえ、なおかつ必要最低限のアップデートな話題にも触れるように改訂を繰り返しています。何人かの著者を知っていますが、間違いなく~~一流の学者ばかりです。すべての内科医の必携と考えます。~

　この本は和製の内科学書とは一味違うすばらしい本です。

　学生にとっては読破するのは難しいという意見もあるが、学生の知的好奇心を満たしてくれる良本です。驚くのは、エイズを記載してあるチャプターで、相当の分量をとって書かれている。アメリカでは相当深刻な問題なのでしょう。また付録のカラーアトラスが同じものなので、ちょっとがっかり。この教科書に匹敵するものを見つけるのは、難しいでしょう。
