　1989年に出たものの新装版。
　著者は旅行記・釣行記を何冊も出している著名な釣り師。
　本書は、自身がこれまでに読んできた釣りの本を語ったもの。古本屋で見つけたり、友人宅で借りてきたりと、偶然、出会ったような本が多いのが面白い。
　取り上げられているのは、井伏鱒二『川釣り』、幸田露伴「幻談」、モーパッサン「二人の友」など有名なものから、稲葉修『鮎釣り海釣り』、益田甫『釣りごよみ』などのほとんど知られていないものまで多様。全部で32点が収められている。
　自身の思い出、入手の経緯、簡単な内容紹介、印象的な箇所の引用とコメントという構成で、軽く読める一冊だった。
　願わくば、もう少しきっちり本の紹介をして欲しかったが、釣りのエッセイとしては楽しめた。
