リクガメの購入を考えていて、リクガメについて勉強するために買った本の中の１冊ですが、読んでみてとてもよかったと思います。
写真は大きく、見やすいし、ペットとしてポピュラーな種類はもちろん、めったに見ることができない珍しい種類も載っています。
飼育方法についても、とてもわかりやすく、ケージのセッティングの順番もイラストで丁寧に書かれています。
病気についても多くの写真付きで説明されているので、かなりわかりやすいです。
これ１冊あれば、だいたいの病気やケガの対策は大丈夫だと思います。
すべてにおいて、満足できる本です。

前半が大きくてきれいなカラー写真を多く用いた亀カタログ、中間に
飼育について、後半に病気に関する記述があります。
この本の特徴は何と言っても爬虫類専門医師である著者の「病気の
予防と対策」です。著者の「カメの家庭医学」カメディカ改訂版
2004.8発行には残念ながら及びませんが、初心者の予備知識として
役に立ちます。
　　

リクガメを飼うかどうか迷っている時はこの一冊でもいいですが、
飼うと決めたら色々な本や最新情報の爬虫類専門誌を読みましょう

写真が豊富で綺麗。初心者にも分かり易いケージのセッティング等、役立つ情報も載っている。流石獣医さんが書かれている本だけあって、飼育の際に不安に思う病気についても信頼できる解説があり、大変参考になりました。
