あらゆるライブラリは"なんとなく"使えちゃうのがイチバンという、
何事にも疑問を持たない派の方は間違っても買わないほうがいいです。

STL実装例をこと細かに解説している本書の内容はほかに類例がなく、
内容は高度ですが、得られるものも非常に大きいものがあると思います。
コンテナやイテレータを利用することに慣れた頃に読むことをおすすめ

します。設計者の意図を知った上で使う道具は、また一味違った結果を
生むことでしょう。

だが悲しいかな、翻訳がなげやりにすぎます。
評価が低い原因の８割は翻訳品質、あとの２割が少々時代遅れになって
しまっている記述が見受けられること。

訳語が適切でない場合が多いだけでなく誤字も多い。単に機械翻訳の

しわざとも思えない品質で、執筆陣のおもいを考えると泣けてきます。
掲載ソースや、本文中のシンボル名にも多々誤りが見受けられるのは、
翻訳作業による内容劣化とは感ぜられません。内容が高度であるだけに
翻訳の品質レベルを保てなかったことは残念でなりません。

高名なプラウガー氏の本ですが、STL の使い方の本ではありません。
STLの構造を解説し、STLの実装例を示す本です。さすがプラウガー氏の本というべきですが、STLの学習には向きません。STLを深く深くその実装まで理解したい人、自分でSTLを作ってみたい人向きでしょう。

アプリケーションで STL を使いたい人には無用の長物と言い切ってよいと思います。
