この巻では三国志きっての豪傑、呂布を中心に動く乱世の男たちの生き様が描かれているのですが、
とにかく呂布が格好良い！！！そして儚い・・・
人の心に残る男の生き様というのをまざまざと見せつけられました。
読んでみて絶対に損はない作品です。

これまでの『三国志』を題材とした作品群に比べると
北方『三国志』では今まで日の目を見なかった人物や
通り一辺倒の書かれ方しかされていなかった人物に
着目して描かれている。『三国志』フリークには
新たなる『三国志』の面白さを、初めて読む人には
『三国志』の奥深さを教えてくれる作品です。

　北方三国志の大きな魅力の一つである呂布の最後。
　
　曹操や劉備と違って、天下に志を持つわけではない呂布。しかし、大志を抱く武将たちの中にあって、誰よりも強く黒い閃光を放ちます。曹操の命よりも赤兎をとった呂布。李姫をおもいやって呂布が赤い布を受けたときには、呂布の奥底にある細やかなやさしさに触れたように思います。「女は曹操の身の回りの世話だけをしていればよい」と割り切る曹操、妻たちを敵陣に残すことを理性で計算できる劉備。大志の前に私心を殺す彼らの生き方が、男の生き様かもしれません。しかし、呂布の生もまた見事なものだったのではないでしょうか。

　もっとも印象的だったのは、夕日の海に照らされた、呂布と赤兎の姿。
　「呂布様は、言われているような方ではありませんね。赤兎を見ているとわかります」
　「俺は、俺だ」

呂布が死んだ。その描写は、非常に優れて、胸が熱くなった。

しかし、北方は、いまだにハードボイルドなんだなぁ。男を描かせるとうまい。

強いてこの巻で残念な点をあげると典韋の死についてもうちょっと厚く描いてもらえると嬉しかったです。
